The Zombie Survival Plan

A more suitable tactic would be to use body armor to protect your vital spots. There are full form suits of Kevlar that are very flexible lightweight and durable. The military would probably respond and to distress calls and would probably have standard issues of these to their soldiers. A good idea would be too find a way to join or to watch for dead soldiers. I mean it may eventually break in spots but you would be adequately protected. Even then you can team up with a friend or ally with other people. This could greatly improve your odds of survival. I personally would try and use a tactic that was described by Mel Brooks in World War Z the military devised a new way of fighting as the shock and awe our modern weapons placed into humans had no effect on zombies simply because their brain had no fear or anger, just no emotions. So they set up boxes of soldiers about 400 troops 200 on the outside and 200 on the inside. They would then lure the zombies with a loud form of music, (Preferably I would play The Trooper). As one zombie heard it would moan. This could trigger a large chain reaction of one zombie moaning as its moan carried to the others who in turn started to moan. Provided with adequate ammunition the trained troops could kill the zombies for days with the machine like repeatitism of the long shooting. One shot. One kill.
Eventually the zombies would stop coming for at the troops because either A, the area would be clear, or B, the chain reaction would have been broken. If done correctly the troops would have a wall of dead protecting them with a barrier. If one needed to reload another on the inside could take that troops place on the outside so there was cover fire on all sides at all times.
I personally though would barricade my self on my roof and keep a pistol with me on at all times trying to get food and water when needed. I would use my dog, (As most zombies don't attack them [I am Legend were not zombies] with a tracer and have it scout through the area barking for any one it found. Though I do not know how I could train my dog of doing that though.
